First day to September 22

In Language, we are focusing on writing our names and reading as a class. We have started our phonics. I am using Jolly Phonics and we have started with S, A, and T sounds. Learning about the parts of the book. The parts of the book are the front cover, rear cover, pages, pictures, words, spine, author and/or illustrator. During our centers, students get time to practice writing letter of the alphabet and explore letters and words.

For sight words, we have covered A, I, and you.

For stories, we have discovered what rhyming stories are.

A new word that we have discovered is the word ALARM.

In Math, we are learning number 1-9. We will revisit our numbers often throughout the year and the first few weeks are just for exposing students to the numbers. Students discover the number and what value that number is.

Snacks are self-selected and students can choose to eat when they are hungry.

In Science, students are interested in nature and the leaves and acorns that are falling from the trees. We have classroom composting worms that students are fascinated with.

We are working on playing with others and learning to make friends.

I am big on technology and we use technology in the classroom daily.
